by Rob BlauwhuisThe market for erotic magazines has shrunk considerably in the last decade. Some regular publications remain but it seems that the smaller, specialized ones have a more solid base. Like Handjobs, listed as a magazine for “Daddy-Boy” erotica, which focuses on young gays, all of legal age of course, who are not interested in fooling around with boys their own age, but who prefer to have sex with mature and experienced men: Daddies - a popular species in the gay universe - who introduce the boys to the world of men’s sex. Apart from the fictional stories, Handjobs always devotes lots of space to drawings. Roscoe (from the comic series Adventures of Timmy), Roger and, since February 2003, Josman are regular contributors. The latter has recently published a collection of his stories, titled simply Josman. |
In an interview posted on his website, the artist says he doesn’t like
being in the spotlight and therefore doesn’t want to share personal information,
except that he lives in England. He also says he’s been drawing basically
all his life but only for the last couple of years has he turned it into
his main profession: “In 2002 I was toying with the idea of doing an erotic
web comic just for fun, but knew I wanted to do something a little different.
That’s when I came up with ‘My Wild & Raunchy Son,’ a story about a
boy who seduces his father. It was a little risqué I guess, but the
reaction to the story was amazing. I was deluged with emails from guys saying
how they loved the comic and wanted me to continue the story, so I ended
up doing a second installment.” After this internet publication he was asked
by the editors of Handjobs to contribute, which he’s been doing since:
“I eventually gave up my boring day job to become a full-time illustrator.”
He candidly admits in this interview that he’s excited by the idea of incest, although he hasn’t any experience with it. His wildest dream is to watch twins having it off together and then join them for a trio. |
| He explored this theme in the story “Twins,” in
which the athletic twin brothers Sean and Kenny Chen refuse to wrestle each
other, much to the amazement of their coach. When he finally manages to get
them to compete, it soon becomes obvious why they were reluctant. They get
so worked up that the trainer’s cock also becomes involved in the sex play. Although the family relationship is the central theme in this story - but whoever is familiar with the gay world knows that sex with twins is one of the most popular fantasies - not all Josman’s comics are like that. In “Foreman Joe” for example, Kyle Taylor gets a summer break job at a construction worksite. On his first day the rough team boss explains to him that he’ll have to work long and hard, “but first, I’m gonna show you exactly what we expect from little chickens like you ’round here...” Soon after, Joe’s “salami” slides into Kyle’s throat and later into his ass. The guy enjoys himself thoroughly and gets even more excited when the other construction workers lay down their work to watch the initiation with excitement, only to take over the job when the foreman is finished and says to them: “The little whore is all yours guys - use and abuse him, but don’t tire him out too much... I’ll be needing him again later!” |

These two examples show that Josman doesn’t shy away from gay clichés.
After the trainer and the construction workers we encounter the plumber,
the tutor and the ranger. All of these guys are well hung and insatiable.
It’s remarkable however, that the stories in Josman are more varied
than usual, in spite of the use of gay stereotypes. Whoever reads Julius’
graphic novels, for example, will notice that the perspective is always from
the bottom who’s at the mercy of rough guys with their horny demands and
their big dicks plowing his ass. Josman however, changes perspective regularly.
Sometimes the boy tells us his side, sometimes the man. But Josman
is also more varied in other ways. The twin brothers Sean and Kenny Chen
are Asian for example, the tutor is black and the young prisoner Martinez
in “Cellmates” is told by his cellmate: “Now it’s daddy’s turn to stick his
big white cock up your sweet Latino bubblebutt!,” only to add when he’s fucking
the Cuban criminal: “You better get used to the idea, ’cause trust me, mine
ain’t gonna be the only cock you’ll have up your shitter in this place!” |

| Apart from the ethnic diversity Josman’s work also
has sexual diversity. I’m not that devoted a Handjobs reader but
it seems that when I read a couple of the stories, the writers apparently
think the age difference itself is such an exciting perversity that they
stick to straightforward sucking and fucking when it comes to the sex. Josman
however draws on a much broader spectrum of sexual activities. Already in
“My Wild and Raunchy Son,” still featured on Josman’s website, the boy turns
out to be a “piss-piglet” and in “Wet in the Woods” the ranger pisses into
the ass of one of the two boys, while in another story a boy is caught pleasing
himself with a couple of huge dildos. In the November issue of Handjobs
Josman continues his series of “My Wild and Raunchy Son,” in which chaps
appear and the boys’ ass is also stuffed with a string of sex beads, a dildo,
a cock, and “after all the severe pounding that it got, Justin’s hole became
nice and loose - ready to receive something a little bigger...” And in the
last image we see the man’s fist being lubed up: “To be continued...” |
