DAS INDIANERSPIEL During their trips to Sweden the Sea Eagle Group made the Indian films Craving for Death and On the Warpath, fresh and cheerful films with about 15 boy actors each. The Indian jewellery and the small loin cloths were handmade with loving care by the boys themselves, and the films were made according to a fixed script. Not exactly with dead seriousness but with immense acting talent, the Indians and their wretched adversaries carry out the attack: a nostalgic delicacy from the era of 8mm/16mm cine film. While in the borstal he may be raped, tattooed, beaten and bullied by the much older boys who surround him, but he emerges from the experience tougher, harder and even more determined, even less concerned for those around him. ACLA, PETIT PORTEUR DE SOUFRE Videofilm, directed by AURELIO GRIMALDI Sicily in the 1930s. As the child of a very poor family, eleven-years-old Acla is sold into a form of slavery in the sulphur mines of Floristella. Forced to work long hours virtually nude in the stifling heat carrying heavy baskets of ore to the surface, Acla and the other boys working as loaders are subjected to uncreasing physical abuse and sexual advances from the adult miners. No longer able to tolerate the conditions, Acla runs away. Following his dreams of joining his married sister in Australia, Acla sets out to find the sea. His disappearance places his family into extreme hardship: they must find Acla, find a replacement for him or return the money. Having spent the money, they set out to find the boy, turning to the police for help. Acla is eventually found and returned, saving his family from financial disaster. The cost to Acla is high, however. In the final scenes, black and blue from a beating, Acla returns to the mines, though he never loses his dream of finding the sea.
